Here is where I will attempt to Document my attempt at working toward a self reliant - homesteading type of life style  As you can see from this picture.... I  "Have a long Row to Hoe!"

I am a simple man with a simple desire to break away from the status quo and finally do my own thing that makes me happy.

I've always been fascinated with history, more specifcally Living history. I don't much care for the dates of important battles, or important events . I am, and always have been interested in how it's done. How so many got so far with so little, in the past. American ingenuity, that Pioneering spirit.

I've chased the almighty Dollar far too long and it has left me quite dissatisfied. Now is a new chapter in my life where I will do what I wanna do, learn what I wanna learn, and find my own brand of happiness. I am not afraid of hard work.....I've been away from it for much, much, too long. Here is my journey into changing that.

So why homestead? Well, I have never been much to join in on what's cool or the flavor of the week. However I did try that life for awhile and hated it. I've always wanted to have a log cabin in the woods off some dirt road that was off another dirt road off a gravel road. (Yeah way out in the sticks.) I wanted to be a mountain man I reckon. Sort of a modern Grizzly Adams kinda guy. But I never really had the courage to really do it. Not like I am trying now. However I have studied alot of the things i think I will need to homestead. I've even studied blacksmithing, the old fashioned way with coal. I built my own tools and my own forge. I never learned the advanced stuff such as welding with a forge, but I plan on picking it back up, just not with coal. Probably with a more modern forge-propane. I've spent a few summers in my youth on a farm, milking cows, gardening general repairs etc. I'm a jack of all trades master of none. So I'm homeseading because it is one of those things I have always wanted to do. Also, because it just seems like a better life. I have found that doing something for myself, my own way satisfies me much more than buying it. I also feel a need to know my food, know who grew it, how and wehere it was grown. Too many bad stories in the news nowadays about our food supply.

I homestead for so many reasons it would fill pages and pages. The main reason is, that it just seems more natural way of living to me.
